BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Specifications | BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Prices in India | BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Review Online

The BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smart phone is one of the world's smallest smart phones and packs all of the power of BlackBerry. It comes complete with digital camera, multimedia capabilities and expandable memory. And it offers users everything else they would expect from a BlackBerry device - including phone, email, web browser, text messaging (SMS and MMS), instant messaging, organizer applications and more. The Blackberry provides quad-band network support on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS and EDGE networks to allow for international roaming between North America, Europe and Asia.

The Pearl is a very normal looking bar shaped phone if you overlook the two extra columns on the keypad and the trackball where the d-pad or joystick typically would be. The device is clad in a piano black gloss finish that appears to be pretty scratch resistant. The sides of the Pearl are covered in a dark silver/pewter colored metal finish, that is quite attractive and a bit less prone to fingerprints than the black surfaces. In spite of the two extra columns of keypad keys, the Pearl's SureType keypad looks normal enough due to its color scheme. The number keys all have silver colored paint on them that makes it easy to see the keypad as a normal numeric keypad. Some people in the press have complained that the keypad feels cheap, owing partly to the fact that the keys are not separated at all by the front cover, and therefore float a bit. Located between the keypad and the display are the red and green call control keys, a back button, a menu button, and the trackball - the "pearl" that gives the device its name. The buttons are all reasonably normal and nice to use, but the trackball is something we've only seen before on the T-Mobile Sidekick III. The Pearl's backlit trackball has a very nice feel to it, and is easily spun in any direction as needed. It can be pressed in for selecting menu items and the like, and seems to do so without moving off your intended target, as is sometimes the case with d-pads that don't have separate select buttons. The back panel of the Pearl, that which covers the battery, is a bit too flexible for my liking, making the device feel a bit cheaper than it should. The back cover includes a self-portrait mirror for the camera, as well as protective covers for the camera itself and the flash. The right side of the Pearl is where you will find the volume control, a lanyard loop, and the first of two user configurable quick-access keys, which defaults to being the camera access/shutter button. The left side houses a miniUSB data/charging port, the 2.5mm stereo headset port, and the second quick-access key - which I use for voice dialing. The lone control on the top of the Pearl handles ring muting and putting the phone into standby mode.

Blackberry Curve 8330 Features | Blackberry Curve 8330 Review Online | Blackberry Curve 8330 Prices in India

Blackberry Curve 8330 Price, Blackberry Curve 8330 Specifications Blackberry Curve 8330 Latest Mobile, Blackberry Curve 8330 Mobile Review Online, Blackberry Curve 8330 Offer, Blackberry Curve 8330 Price in India and United States, Blackberry Curve 8330 Functions, Blackberry Curve 8330 Camera Clarity, Blackberry Curve 8330 Catalog Online.

The Blackberry Curve 8330 is the phone I've wanted for a long time. I finally have it and here is my review. I got my first Blackberry two years ago. It was an 8700. Ever since then, I've loved having RIM's Blackberry as my cell phone. The Curve has been out for about a year now, and I now have it.
In The Box

    * Blackberry 8330
    * Leather Holster
    * Stereo Earphones with microphone
    * Charger with adapter for other countries
    * Software CD
    * USB Cable
    * Manuals
    * Battery

Features

The Blackberry 8330 is the less "business" version of their Blackberry 8830 smart phone. In addition to the "pearl" track ball that this Blackberry uses, it also has a 2MP (1600 x 1200) camera for still photographs and video, and also a media player to view pictures and videos, and play music.

This version of the Curve also has GPS built-in. However, using GPS, you have to download maps online, which in turn uses up data. The 8330 also works on the EVDO network which is faster than EDGE. Unfortunately there is no wi-fi capabilities on this phone, so everything you do online will require the use of a data plan. Also, you can insert a microSD(HC) card for extra memory. In fact you need a microSD card to even record video. The built-in memory is very minimal.

As for the other features, it has the same old Blackberry features - and aside from the ones listed above, it has a Voice Recorder.
Review

I was excited to finally receive my Blackberry Curve. I wanted it ever since it came out last summer, but was too cheap to buy it. I had a iPhone since then, but recently gave it up, knowing that a new iPhone was coming out. I'm happy with my Curve, though there are still some problems.
Look and Feel

The Blackberry Curve is the smallest full-QWERTY keyboard that they've made. It's thinner, smaller, and lighter than the others. It also feels a bit, cheaper in a way because of how light it feels in your hand. The previous generation Blackberry's had this sort of heavy-hard plastic feel to it. You knew you could give it a beating and it would still work. Maybe if i drop the phone a few times, I will get the same comfort in knowing that it can take a hit and still work. Then again, the 8700 was a company phone, and I paid my hard earned money for this Curve. So I'll still try to baby it. Furthermore, the buttons are a bit smaller than before. I personally find it fine to type on, but others complain that the buttons are a bit too small.

At first, the "pearl" track ball was a bit hard to use. It wasn't very responsive to my actions especially when moving left. However since then, it works very well. I'm not sure if it had to do with breaking in the ball, or the fact that I changed the sensitivity. It works great now, and is very easy to use.

Normally, Blackberry's come with a holster for you to clip onto your belt. No need to put this big phone into your pocket. And depending on your settings, you can have it just vibrate when it's in your holster, and ring when it's out. Now, what we get is a black leather holster, but it does not clip onto your belt! It's basically a protective pocket which you now have to put into your pant pocket. The front of the "holster" sticks out a bit, seeming like it can be slid onto your belt. But no, it's just for looks, and it also houses the magnet that your Blackberry reacts to.

Another thing I don't like about the Curve is that you have to remove the backing and battery to insert and remove your micro SD card. My friend's Samsung Jack has a slot in the side of the phone that you just push the micro SD card into. With the 8330 you have to remove the backing, then remove the battery, and then slide the SD card in place then lock it. Then you have to put the battery back, put the backing back in place, and then wait for the Curve to restart. A lot of hassle, especially for those who use their SD cards for multiple gadgets. That being said, I'm glad it takes SDHC cards, because being as it as many multimedia functions, a large storage capacity is great. Another thing to note is that you must have a memory card in the phone if you want to record video. Furthermore, the Curve's camera doesn't seem to have a protective piece of hard plastic attached to the backing. It just has a hole which the camera lens looks through. It seems like dust can easily get trapped and settle in there.

Being that the Curve is also a multimedia player, they have replaced the wired headphone, with stereo headphones. Now, you have an ear piece to go into each ear. I guess it's good, if you plan on listening to music a lot on this thing. But, honestly, I don't. I'd rather have a single ear piece. Sadly, you can't use that single ear piece from your old Blackberry anymore because the jack is too large now. I don't like having both of my ears covered when I'm using the phone, so I usually just talk with one ear piece on, leaving the other piece dangling and usually getting caught on something.. like my seatbelt. Not fun. The stereo headset does still have the answer button on the phone which is good.

To sum it up, all-in-all the Blackberry Curve does have some problems with it's overall design. But none are too critical. Sure the holster is pretty lame, but I'm sure you can buy one that suits you. Sure, it feels cheaper, but at least its lighter. Who knows, maybe it still can take a couple dozen drops on cement.. but who really wants to drop their phone and try? Sure you have to remove the back and battery to insert the SD card, but for most it's a one-time thing. I shouldn't really have to remove the SD card. You can access the data by connecting your Blackberry to your computer via USB. It should show up like another drive.

Interface and Software

The Blackberry interface is well thought out and easy to use. If it's your first time using a Blackberry there's a learning curve, but you'll get it eventually, and you'll enjoy the phone - and eventually be a Crackberry addict.

As said before, there are a few new features from the previous generation Blackberry. First they allow you to customize your front scree. You can have it so that you only have a few main icons, or have more in an L shape. If you want to access everything, like I do, you can change the layout to display all. Every item on the menu can be swapped and moved, or even hidden. With the menu button it is even easier to customize the front. You can also customize almost every application, and you will need to get your phone to act the way you want it to. It will take a while to get it just right.

First things I needed to change was the messaging. It's annoying how the call log, text messages, and emails all get clumped into this list. It can be easily be edited so that you only get what you want, such as emails in the email application, texts in the SMS app, and calls displayed in the call log. But you will have to play around to figure it out.

Without going into too much detail, the software applications are basically the same. I'll go over some of the new features though. All Media is accessed through the Media application. Here you can listen to your mp3s, view your videos, listen to your ring tones, view your pictures, and listen to your voice notes. The Music Player allows you to view your mp3s by artist, albums, genres, and you can even create playlists. The other categories have less browsing capability, but isn't much of a problem. The music can also be played through the speaker phone.

The Voice Notes Recorder is just a voice recorder. If you want, you can interview people and save it as an mp3, which is great, and then access it from your computer. You can also just leave little voice notes to remind yourself of things.

The Video Camera allows you to record little videos. It's a bit laggy at times - the screen doesn't refresh that fast, especially if you or the background is moving a lot. You will see heavy pixelation. It uses .3GP file format, with heavy compression. It produces very small files. One great thing I found was that this camera has a light which is used for flash, and also for video. You can adjust the settings and have this light on continuously and use it as a flash light.

The Camera is a 2 megapixel camera which produces 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution images. It's not the best, but it is sufficient, and the norm for most cameras. You can apply digital zoom to the pictures at 3x and 5x, but all it really does is crop the picture. For example zooming 5x will produce a picture that is just 320 pixels by 240 pixels. Very small. As mentioned in the above paragraph, it also has a built in flash.

The voice dialer does not work very well. It can't recognize my girlfriends name which is a pretty typical name. And some other times it completely misinterprets what I'm saying. A cool feature though is that it's not just a voice dialer. You can use this feature to access other parts of your phone.

Also, although it is very easy to type with the keyboard, it does little things to help you type even faster. For example pressing space twice will insert a period, and holding a letter for a second will capitalize it, and in an email field, pressing space will enter an @ symbol.
Pros

    * Each application is customizable
    * Still a business phone but with more features
    * 2MP camera, with ability to record video
    * Smaller and more lightweight than before, and still has a QWERTY keyboard
    * Expandable memory with a microSDHC card
    * Built-in GPS
    * Voice recorder, mp3 player, video viewer, picture viewer

Cons

    * Feels less durable (but it may still be tough)
    * Have to remove battery and backing to insert/remove SD card
    * GPS requires data plan. No application with preloaded maps
    * Comes with crappy leather holster
    * Still only comes with Brick Breaker
    * Battery doesn't last as long

Although there are lots of problems with this phone, I still like it. How does it stand up to the iPhone. Well, it certainly lacks some of the features and innovations of that phone, but it does what a smart phone is supposed to do, and has added a bunch of features as extra. It's a great improvement over the last generation of Blackberry's, and is still very easy to use. I like the size of this phone, and would rather hold this phone to my face than a giant iPhone.

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Specifications | BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Review Online | BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Prices in India

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Price, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Specifications BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Latest Mobile, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Mobile Review Online, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Offer, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Price in India and United States, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Functions, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Camera Clarity, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Catalog Online.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 (aka the Pearl 2) is the second version of the popular phone that fits a modified QWERTY keyboard into a standard candy-bar design. Available for Sprint and Verizon CDMA networks, the 8130 adds built-in GPS, a video camera, and support for high-speed data networks. This cute device surfs the Web quickly and provides basic multimedia features, but it's no substitute for a heavy-duty smart phone.

BlackBerry units are known for their e-mail capabilities, and the 8130 is no exception. You can configure up to ten Web, POP3, and IMAP e-mail accounts, and you can download a crudely designed mobile IM client to instant-message via AIM, Yahoo Messenger, or Windows Live Messenger. Our silver Verizon test unit is $250 with a two-year contract (as of 12/20/07), but don't forget to factor in the extra fees for data. An unlimited e-mail and messaging plan with 450 voice minutes will cost you $100 per month. That's not cheap--especially for a phone that doesn't make e-mail and IM composition particularly easy.

As with the original Pearl, the main draw of the 8130 is the SureType keyboard, which combines letters in the QWERTY layout onto 20 keys that fit onto a slim cell phone. But the keyboard isn't that simple to use. The predictive text feature is very good at guessing dictionary-defined words, but using the white trackball (rather than a four-way keypad) to select words from a long list of options can be frustrating--often I overshot my choice. When typing in e-mail addresses and passwords that predictive text can't recognize, you'll need a careful combination of double-tapping, trackball rolling, and Alt-key pressing (to access numbers) to get the alphanumeric combination you want. It's a pain.

On the other hand, I loved the fast-moving ball for scrolling through Web pages, which loaded really quickly on Verizon's EvDO network. It makes up for the fact that you're viewing the Web pages on a relatively small 2.25-inch, 240-by-260-pixel screen, which is otherwise bright, sharp, colorful, and easy to read. Video clips look great.

Call quality was good. The call recipients and I could hear each other loudly and clearly even when I used the speakerphone. In PC World lab tests, battery life during talk time lasted 5 hours, 42 minutes, average among our current batch of standard-size cell phones but well below average for a smart phone.

The 8130's 2-megapixel camera with 5X zoom and flash did okay with snapshots and landscapes but had difficulty focusing sharply on objects at close range. I found pictures a little dark, too. The 8130 also takes video at the 240 by 180 and 176 by 144 resolutions; you'll need a microSD card (not included with our test unit) to shoot and store clips. To take a picture you must go into the camera application and press the trackball, since the device has no dedicated shutter button.

The same goes for music-playback controls--the 8130 is no iPhone. It does, however, support standard 3.5mm headphones and major audio formats. As it has only 32MB of internal memory, you'll want that microSD card to store a significant amount of music. Fortunately, RIM has moved the microSD card slot to an easy-access location on the side of the phone. (It used to be behind the battery.)

I had to dig into the phone's advanced options to enable the built-in GPS for more than just 911 purposes. To take advantage of it, though, you must pay a monthly $10 fee for Verizon's VZ Navigator service, which provides turn-by-turn voice directions and locations for 14 million points of interest in the United States. I did not try this service.

The 8130 is great for anyone who wants to do some light e-mail communication and Web surfing on a phone that won't feel bulky in a pocket. But if you're a heavy keyboard user, you're better off with a full-size smart phone.

BlackBerry Storm 9500  is probably RIM’s most important phone release since the first Pearl became available back in 2006. Why? Because like the Pearl, which introduced the business orientated BlackBerry brand to the consumer world, the Storm represents another first for RIM, the introduction of a touchscreen handset with a brand new interface ready to take on the current smartphone darling, Apple’s iPhone 3G.

Originally known as the BlackBerry Storm 9500 Thunder prior to the official announcement, we received word of its imminent release on October 8th when the Storm 9500 was confirmed for Europe – incidentally, the Storm 9530 is the version to be sold in the USA – and word is the BlackBerry will be on sale from Research in Motion realise how important the touchscreen interface is and have added their own unique style to the system as well as addressing the various feature omissions which frustrate both existing and potential iPhone users. The Storm has its fair share of impressive features and will appeal to a broad range of mobile phone fans, as it’s set to be as competent on the multimedia side as it’s sure to be on the business side. If you’ve held off purchasing another smartphone because you where intrigued to see what RIM were cooking up, then it looks like you’re about to be rewarded, as the Storm looks mightily impressive.

The very popular Blackberry Curve 8900 is now available in India at many major local showrooms and shops.

The mobile is available on most major networks including Airtel and Hutch.

Editors Review:

One of the best smart phones when it comes to emailing, messaging and SMS.

The Blackberry Curve 8900 offers some of the best Qwerty keyboards in the market and one of our favourites.

The one major let down for the Blackberry Curve 8900 is the internet browser which is slow and unable to load many sites due to the restriction on scripts and use of Adobe Flash.

The phone also seems to have slight issue with the trackball which can stop working sometimes.

Blackberry Curve 8520 Design and Quality

The Blackberry Curve 8520 has the traditional Blackberry look, similar to the Curve 8900. Above a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2.64? screen is situated. The screen resolution is low for a RIM model at 320?240 pixels, but the screen is more or less clear (with some pixelation) and QVGA is average too. There is a plastic feel to the Blackberry curve 8520. However, the outer edges of the phone have a soft-touch finish, giving a good grip to the device while enhancing its appearance. On the left of the phone is a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microUSB charging port whereas the right contains the volume rocker. The optical trackpad is placed right in the centre, surrounded by four buttons: Talk, Menu shortcut, Back and End.

Blackberry Curve 8520 New Additions

A major addition on this device is the optical trackpad that replaces the trackball navigator. This trackpad is very responsive, making the scrolling experience so much better. Further, customers can also adjust its sensitivity via the Settings, Screen/Keyboard Menu.

Another addition is the set of dedicated media keys on top of the device. They are very convenient to queue up tracks and play/pause while using the media player. Moreover, the play/pause button acts as a mute button while on calls.
Blackberry Curve 8520 Specifications

Measuring at (109?60?13.9) mm, Blackberry Curve 8520 is slightly thicker than the 8900 but roughly weighs the same at 3.7 oz. It has 256MB onboard memory with support for microSD cards to expand memory further.

Blackberry 8520 has OS 4.6 which has been revamped with some modern icons and a more polished look. For first time users this layout can be quite confusing but it just takes a little time to get used to.

The phonebook is organized simply and allows almost unlimited storage. Organizer, Tasks, Voice Note Recorder and other basic features are also present.
A lot of messaging options can be utilized on the phone and email can be easily accessed on Blackberry Curve 8520. With Blackberry Internet Service, upto ten email accounts can be accessed.

This phone also comes with quadband world roaming facilities. Blackberry App World is also preloaded, but one can only save apps to the phone’s main memory.
Blackberry Curve 8520 Keyboard

The QWERTY keyboard of the Blackberry Curve 8520 is quite similar to the 8900. Here the buttons are smaller and packed in closer.
Blackberry Curve 8520 Camera

The back of the phone houses a 2MP camera. This camera comes with a 5X digital zoom but without flash or autofocus.

Blackberry Curve 8520 Battery

The battery life of this device is quite good. With a talktime of upto 4.5 hours and a standby time upto 17 days, this device could be charged every 2-3 days for average usage.

Blackberry 8520 however lacks GPS, unlike the Blackberry Curve 8900 and is not a 3G device. Neither does it have a high screen resolution. However, for those looking at a lower priced Blackberry, this device, offering some good basic features, can be seriously reconsidered.

Blackberry 8530 Smartphone Review

With PDA s being restricted mostly to the business classes and technocrats, RIM has launched the latest handset 8530 Curve, mainly focusing on the new entry level customers who are still to explore Blackberry functionality meaning that target is on the mainstream customers who usually opt for a smartphone. What reveals this is the price of this handset, and the flexible prices offered in the market. You could generally fit this in the front of the Blackberry lineup as a refresher to the now ubiquitous Curve 83xx, and is meant to sit between entry-level models like the Pearl and Pearl Flip, and higher end models like the world-dominating Tour and Bold. So, what are the features? Well, users get an innovative track pad, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, 3G coverage and an impressive 2 MP camera. It gives you a hollow feel and certainly a less burden for your pockets. Even then the feel it gives you is something I felt dissatisfied with. So now let us move on.

Design:

Familiar and Fashionable:

The overall design of the Blackberry 8530 is quite identical to that of the Curve 8250. It is slightly taller than the 8530, but narrower, thinner and lighter. The Curve is built with stylish fashionable design aimed at the younger lots. Instead of a chrome bezel, you have a rubber strip around the side with convenience keys bulging out of its sides. The media control keys are located on the top of this device and the fascia colonizes the track pad in place of a traditional track ball.  Track pad shapes out to be one prominent thing you would appreciate no matter what kind of person you are. This is one of the strong points in this mobile. Talk, End, Return, and Menu keys have been redesigned. But sadly, this hype is let down by the screen and the LED Indicator light. Rather than the screen, the LED irritates you with it being greater than the tip of a ball point pen. RIM has made sure that overall, with a narrow thin and lighter design this device feels like a much compact device in your hand. It is very plasticy however; we will not go as far as to call it cheap feeling, but RIM is really toeing the border here.

For rough users this is a news that they would love to hear. With the Curve 8530 being smaller and lighter dropping this down will not be a problem compared to the delicate phones in the market. Weighing nearly 106 gm this beauty would never trouble your pockets.

Display:

The display screen is 2.4 inch with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels supporting 65K colors, the same as the original Curve. While this resolution is fine for general use of the phone like navigating through the operating system, emails , calendar or alarm clock etc; this makes a huge difference in when it comes to the part of web browsing. The screen gives you an annoying experience when you try to zoom a full web page, and the appeal is not as good as the one seen in 8900 or storm.

Keyboard:

The keyboard in design is not much different from its siblings in the series. It comes with small plastic keys which are easy enough to type on, though not as fast as the QWERTY keys in 9xxx series. If you are hoping for an escape from the plastic spaced out keys, then you are out of luck. The keys are small and tightly packed and raised such that typing or tapping out email is not a problem. Overall, this QWERTY keyboard is designed for ease and reliability.

Track pad:
What sets the two devices apart is that the 8530 replaces the trackball with an optical trackpad.  The 8520 was the first RIM device we saw with this, but we have seen it on all RIM devices since save the trackball pad-less 95xx series.  The trackball was not perfect, but we are far from being crazy about its replacement.  We definitely appreciate the sensitivity options, but no matter what we have it set to we just cannot be as precise as with the analog ball.
Buttons and Ports:

In the bottom portion you could see a 3.5mm headset jack, microUSB charging along with one or more convenience keys. On the right side there is the volume rocker with a second convenience key.  The top houses the play back keys.  The battery door features a nice looking carbon fiber finish, which is the only visual difference from the 8520. The camera is just above the door.
